The watercolor workshops in Altea invite you to disconnect, experiment with color and enjoy an artistic experience in a charming natural environment.
Upcoming dates: Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st, 2026. You can participate on one of the two days or on both.
The Watercolor Workshop
Taught by Carmen Ibarra.
Enjoy watercolor painting in a special setting, learn and improve your technique while painting alongside Carmen Ibarra. I will guide you step by step, adapting to your level, so you can enjoy painting from the very first moment.
All materials are included.
The workshop usually runs from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, after the introductory session for new students. But this weekend we're doing a double session on Saturday: we'll also be painting in the afternoon, with a break to share a delicious picnic prepared by everyone. This way we can enjoy watercolors, good company, and the lovely porch of the farmhouse a little longer—it's so pleasant in the afternoon! We'll be painting from 3:15 pm to 5:15 pm.

All prices include watercolor materials and a mid-morning snack. Drinks are included.
The Introductory Session is exclusively for new students and only needs to be completed once. If you participate on both days, you will only complete it on the first day.
Learn, experiment, and paint from life
The workshop is designed so that you can advance your learning in a practical way, exploring the technique and enjoying the painting process.
You can come for a single day to discover watercolor painting or participate in several sessions to continue learning and perfecting your technique. We'll also be announcing upcoming workshops here, so you can come back and paint with us again in the future.
The group brings together both students participating for the first time and those who have already participated in other workshops with Carmen, adapting the proposals and exercises to the level of each participant.
In this edition, for those of you who already have experience with watercolors, I propose a small creative challenge: let's venture into the magical garden of the farmhouse, find a corner that inspires us, and paint from life. It could be a small twig, a play of light among the leaves, or a landscape that invites us to stop and observe.
Each of you will find your own way to approach the subject, exploring the shapes, colors, and possibilities of watercolor at your own pace. I'll be nearby to support you, share ideas, and help you discover new possibilities whenever you need it. It's an invitation to trust your vision, experiment, and enjoy the freedom of painting in nature.
Is this your first time?
Before joining the workshop, you will have an Introduction Session from 10:00 to 11:00 with Carmen Ibarra.
This session is essential for those participating in Carmen Ibarra's watercolor workshops for the first time and only needs to be completed once. In it, you will learn the necessary basics to join the subsequent watercolor sessions.
From that moment on, you can participate in any of the available watercolor sessions, by prior reservation.
Picnic-style shared meal
On Saturday and Sunday, we'll share a picnic lunch. Each participant will bring a healthy dish prepared at home to share with the group. This way, we can try different recipes and enjoy a varied and delicious meal together. Drinks are included.
For regular students of Carmen Ibarra's workshops
If you already regularly participate in Carmen Ibarra's watercolor workshops in Valencia, you can attend this workshop using a session from your regular pass, with a supplement of €15.
The Farmhouse
Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, centuries-old trees and the tranquility of the countryside, the farmhouse offers us a unique space to enjoy a morning of outdoor painting, in a calm and creative environment.
Their patio becomes our little art studio, a place to paint without haste, share the process and enjoy the nature that surrounds us.
A place to disconnect and create
With over a hundred years of history, the farmhouse retains all the charm of traditional Mediterranean architecture. Its spaces, its vegetation, and the tranquility of the surroundings create the perfect setting to disconnect from routine and dedicate a few hours to creativity.
Here, watercolor also becomes a way to stop, observe and enjoy the moment.

The workshop in Altea was a dream come true. Carmen rekindled my love for watercolor, which had been dormant for years, and from the very first day I learned new techniques that I now can't live without. Even if you've never held a paintbrush before, in Carmen's workshops you'll discover your creative side and you'll probably be heading to the nearest art supply store the next day to buy a basic kit and keep painting at home. I'll definitely be back.

As a watercolor beginner, I can only sing the praises of Carmen's workshop. The setting is fantastic and perfect for concentration. I finished the morning with two pieces that I could easily frame, and I loved learning how to mix the three basic colors to achieve the shades we worked with. I learned a lot, enjoyed myself even more, and I'm already looking forward to the next workshop so I can enjoy and learn again. Thank you, Carmen!
