Painting and drawing workshop with children in Valencia.
Whether in my studio, in the garden, or in after-school activities at school, I love painting with children.
In art workshops with children, individuality is respected. My role is to guide them through drawing and painting, exploring themes that interest each child. Of course, the activities are presented from a technical perspective, offering resources while respecting each child's individual motivations. In the process of children's creative development, it's crucial to validate their ideas and approaches, gently guiding them so they can realize them through their work. Ultimately, that blank canvas should be their space of freedom.
Another approach in these workshops is to design each class in an original and different way, always including fun surprises. This way, without realizing it, and through play, different technical or conceptual issues are addressed. Sometimes there is resistance, as the children know exactly what they want to do and often resist more formal work, which is also necessary for them to grasp certain concepts. Even so, it's all about getting started, and in the end, children have an immense capacity for concentration when they paint or draw.
Ultimately, these workshops aim to provide children with tools, resources, and techniques so that each one can express and create whatever they want, using their creative freedom.
The workshops are developed under the umbrella of two fundamental axes: painting and drawing.
Thus, we have experimented with drawing, studying light, volume, and movement through sketches and graphic expression using different techniques such as charcoal, colored pencils, pastels, and inks, as well as through their own free-form approaches that question all concepts. Through painting, we learn about color theory, composition, mixing colors, and understanding their composition, using acrylic or mixed media techniques, and of course, watercolor.
We were also invited to collaborate on the creation of a mural in Manuel Granados Park, in Ruzafa.
My greetings and gratitude to Claudia, María, David, Noelia, Paula, Juan, Mario, Aimar, Marina, Tomás, Javi, Sofia, Bora and so many other children with whom I had the pleasure of experiencing art.
Here are some photos of the work of these great little artists.
It's been a pleasure!
